Atlas of Beauty | Portraits of Women from 32 Countries

Michaela Noroc is a Romanian Photographer. In 2013 she quit her job and started travelling around the world. She wanted to photograph women from each country of the world, to show that beauty is everywhere. Her project is called ATLAS OF BEAUTY. And she indeed did an impressive job at it. Globalisation and standardisation of a women’s beauty by fashion brands have altered the concept of beauty in many people’s eyes. But as the saying goes ‘beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder’. And with this project Michaela Noroc portrayed the beauty in diversity perfectly. “Global trends make us look and behave the same, but we are all beautiful because we are different. In the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the beholder is always somebody else.” says Noroc. Noroc picks models around her age, 28, as she found a better connect with them.
